To the contrary! 99% of our jobs are full time. We are looking for candidates to fill full time, part time, 1-day jobs, on call jobs, short assignments, and weekend jobs.

It’s easy. Our application is digital. Come into our office and we will text or email you the link to apply. Our jobs are listed on Indeed, Facebook, and our website.

No, we never charge our employees for our services.

Our offices are in Cambridge and Salisbury, Maryland, and Seaford, Delaware. Our business hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. We accept applications and interview daily from 9am-3pm.

That depends on our clients’ requests and what jobs we are recruiting for. It can be as quick as one day. We match your skills to our open positions. Not every job will be a match. We ask that you keep in contact with us weekly, via our office availability line. We have new openings every day and our goal is to find you the right match.

Not every job is for everybody. It is your choice whether you accept or decline a job assignment. Continue to call the availability line weekly.

BesTemps/DSS is proud to be your employer. Contact your local office with questions, concerns, and days you will be absent.

We make every attempt to make sure employees are happy with their jobs. When a transfer is requested, we will try to accommodate the request when possible. Please contact your local office to discuss the options.

Assignments can be 1 day or months. Your Staffing Specialist will provide the information when you are offered the positions. Many of our clients are looking for permanent, hard working, and dedicated team members.

Contact your local office to confirm that your assignment is ending. Our Employment and Staffing Coordinators will update your availability and offer guidance.

You are our employee for 480 hours, but our clients know that they can hire you at any time.

Our payday is Friday, every week. Your hours are reported by our clients. Hours worked in a week are paid the following Friday.

Client FAQs

We offer traditional temporary staffing, direct hire recruiting, drug testing, professional background checks, and motor vehicle reports.

Our business is registered under the name Blue Hen Staffing, Inc. We do business as “BesTemps,” our brand name of over 45 years. Our sister company, Diamond State Staffing, Inc. (DSS), is utilized for certain high risk industry codes. We pride ourselves in our longevity on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware and use our brand name “BesTemps.”

After you contact your local office, our Staffing Coordinator will obtain your information, your needs, and employee needs. They will email you our credit application packet. Upon return of your application—and after credit approval from our lender—we will be back in touch to complete the process. You are under no obligation to utilize our services.

We rely on a variety of resources to reach our employee base. Everything from word of mouth to advertising paid by us. We also offer a popular “Refer A Friend” incentive program.

Rates are determined by your Workers Compensation classification code, industry safety reports, your staffing requirements, number of employees requested, and other labor costs. Your Bill Rate includes payroll services such as State, Federal and FICA taxes, Unemployment Insurance filings and associated litigation, Workers Compensation premiums and associated litigation, secure personnel files, secure I9 documents, and year end W2s.

We are ASA (American Staffing Association) members and pledge to a code of ethics and best practices. ASA promotes legal, ethical, and professional practices. As members, we are kept abreast of the latest developments in labor and employment law, and human resources practices. We pride ourselves on our customer service commitment to both our clients and our employees. Our Staffing and Employment Coordinators work diligently in searching for qualified candidates. This is what we do every day. Our job is to find the employees for you so you can maintain your businesses production, and operations.

Requests with special requirements and circumstances where a specific skill is involved will require time to advertise, search, recruit, interview, and thoroughly screen the candidate. BesTemps does not send you just anyone. Our goal to find you the right candidate, with the right skills, at the right time.

The employees are ours, BesTemps, contractually for 480 hours. We are responsible for their weekly Friday pay. We offer direct deposit options of checking, saving, or Paycard accounts.

We encourage clients to hire our employees before the contract ends. Contact your local Staffing Coordinator and they will supply you with the “buy-out” price and contract.

BesTemps takes responsibility as the employee is covered under our workers compensation policy for on-the-job injuries. We ask that your workplace is OSHA safety inspection compliant, all forklift operators are OSHA trained, and you are holding monthly safety meetings with all employees. Our Staffing Coordinators or Operations Department will visit if we feel safety is a concern. Employees and clients are responsible for immediately reporting the accident to their local Staffing Coordinator.

Timekeeping is due weekly by 12pm on Mondays. Please email information to payroll@bestemps.com.

Depending on what company (Blue Hen Staffing or Diamond State Staffing), you will find your weekly invoice on a Portal or in  your email. Your invoice includes instruction on where and how to pay your invoice. Invoices can be paid by check or by ACH. Invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice date.
